Since I was going for a meeting in Tangerang area, I need to leave home earlier than usual to beat the 3-in-1 traffic (at 7am. Arriving too early, I swung by KFC. I rarely get my chance to enjoy a simple breakfast in a restaurant on a weekday.
I spent Rp 13,000 for Riser and Rp 11,000 for Hazelnut coffee. Riser is a KFC styled “breakfast” burrito, consisting of a grilled wheat flour tortilla wrapping a fried chicken strip and scrambled eggs. Unlike the usually big sized burrito that I ate in the U.S., Riser is about 15 cm long pretty much the size of a KFC chicken strip. The server probably forgot to spread the pink color dressing similar to Thousand Island dressing that’s seen in the picture, but no complaint as I preferred it with tomato sauce instead. Because the thick, creamy, fattening Thousand Island dressing would make me feel guilty afterward.
If not for the guilt of fat and unhealthiness, I actually like fast-foods like KFC and McDonalds. As for Riser, KFC chicken never gone wrong, what more can I say. After devouring the first bite of crunchy salty of the chicken strip and the dense, home-cook, non-greasy scrambled eggs, it leaves a peppery savoriness in my mouth. I prefer my scrambled eggs to be creamy with large fluffy curds, but Riser is good value for money.
This is definitely not my typical sweet light breakfast in front of my laptop in the office, like Starbucks’ chocolate croissant or chocolate bread and a cup of Americano with milk, but something good for a change.
